Boston College Dining Services has received a Gold Award from the National Association of College & University Food Services in the organizationā€™s annual Sustainability Awards, which recognize leadership in the promotion and implementation of environmental sustainability as it relates to campus dining operations.

Ļć½¶ŠćDS was the winner in the category of Waste Management, which according to NACUFS honors institutional members ā€œwho minimize waste sent to landfills and wastewater systems by diverting biodegradable waste to compost or other landfill deferred systems and maximizing recycling efforts throughout dining services.ā€

Ļć½¶ŠćDSā€™s previous accolades from NACUFS include a Sustainability Gold Award for Education and Outreach in 2018 for its ā€œFRESH to Tableā€ initiativeā€”which promotes local, sustainable food options in New England, with a focus on community awareness and educationā€”and the Loyal E. Horton Dining Award in 2020 for Heights Ramen, a popular campus event that celebrated Japanese culture and cuisine and offered students an immersive dining experience.
