As we continue to work toward our mission, it is crucial that we evolve and respond to the ever-changing needs of our students, our campus, and the world of work. In addition to continuing to serve students through a wide range of services and resources, we are focusing on the four strategic priorities below.
Accessibility & Equity: Space, Location, Visibility, Hours
Objective: To increase our accessibility in order to provide an equitable opportunity for all Boston College students to use Career Center services and resources.
Activities:
- Identify and secure physical space on campus that is more centrally located for students.
- Have a staff presence at key campus events to make the Career Center more visible and staff more approachable to students.
- Explore our hours of availability to ensure students can connect with Career Center staff.
- Expand our 24/7 self-service resources that students can access from anywhere at any time.
Collaboration & Integration into Campus Life
Objective:Â To integrate into academic and co-curricular activities in order to provide equitable service to all students, recognizing that students enter Boston College with different levels of career exposure and knowledge and may not proactively seek our services on their own.
Activities:
- Expand our key partnerships and integrate strategically into key academic and student life experiences.
- Further engage employers, faculty, student leaders, and alums into the direct delivery of career education.
Clarity: Marketing and Messaging
Objective:Â To clarify our messaging and streamline our marketing strategy to ensure our students and partners have a better sense of what we do, how we do it, and how students can best access our resources.
Activities:
- Develop talking points for our staff to use consistent language when talking about what we do and how we do it.
- Better use data to tell our story.
- Reconsider the name of our office.
- Put forth diverse stories of success and resilience.
Staff Well-Being & Development: Joy, Belonging, & Growth
Objective:Â Recognizing that our staff is critical to our ability to deliver high quality service to students, to prioritize the well-being and sense of belonging of our team to ensure that we have a well-functioning staff with the space and time to enjoy the work we do and to continue to learn and grow professionally.
Activities:
- Create opportunities for staff to connect with each other and colleagues outside the Career Center.Â
- Regularly review and sunset programs to create space for innovation and growth.
- Further develop opportunities for staff to identify and pursue professional development and training that are specific to their interests and goals.
