Core Courses
Many courses in the Art, Art History, and Film Department satisfy the University's Arts Core requirement, and several fulfill the Cultural Diversity requirement. The University’s Core Courses web page lists Core courses offered each semester, and these courses are also identified as "Core" in the University's Course Information and Schedule.
Arts Core and Art, Art History, And Film courses taken abroad
Studio Art, Art History, and Film Studies courses taken abroad will not be considered for fulfillment of the Arts Core requirement, with the exception of a few pre-approved Art History courses, which can be found in the Pre-Approved Courses list.
Arts Core and Art, Art History, and Film courses taken at other U.S. institutions
Studio Art and Film Studies courses taken at other institutions will not be considered for fulfillment of the Arts Core requirement. For Art History, Arts Core credit may be granted for survey courses only, on a very limited, case-by-case basis, and is subject to the approval of Art History's Director of Undergraduate Study. To inquire about Arts Core eligibility for Art History courses taken at other US institutions, please contact Professor Aurelia Campbell prior to enrolling in a course.
Arts Core and summer Art, Art History, and Film courses taken through the Woods College of Advancing Studies
Summer courses taken through the Woods College are eligible to fulfill University Core requirements if their academic-year equivalents do so. Core-eligible courses for Fall and Spring semesters are listed on the University’s Core Courses web page, and these courses are also identified as "Core" in the University's Course Information and Schedule.
