Sociology Professor and Chair Andrew Jorgenson has been appointed by the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services to serve on the National Advisory Environmental Health Sciences Council. The council is a congressionally mandated body that advises the Health and Human Services secretary, director of the National Institutes of Health, and director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences on matters relating to the direction of research, research support, training, and career development supported by NIEHS. Jorgenson’s term runs for three years.
