For the rest of the year, make a reservation request by emailing outdoor@bc.edu. Making a request does NOT guarantee that equipment will be available and reservations will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.
- While reservations for most items are not required, they are strongly encouraged, especially if you are picking up a large number of items.Â
- Reservations ARE required for:
- Rentals during Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Vacation, and Easter Weekend
- All watercraft, including stand-up paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks
- Reservation periods lasting at least 1 weekÂ
- Campus organizational rentals
- Montserrat-supported rentals
- Rentals during Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Vacation, and Easter Weekend

We have a prorated pricing system for all of our equipment. All Rec Center Members and Ï㽶Ðã students (regardless of membership status) receive a discounted rate.

Check Out Process
All equipment pick-ups and returns must be completed during drop-in hours (see bottom of this page). *Outdoor Adventure hours are different from Recreation Center hours! Rental returns made after OA hours, even when the Recreation Center is open, WILL be considered late and incur a late fee. Check our most up-to-date hours here.
- Pick up and return equipment from the OA desk on the first floor of the Recreation Center.
- Please arrive at the OA desk at least 30 minutes prior to closing in order to pick up your rental.Â
- You will need to both sign a Rental Agreement and make payment at pick up.
- Payment must be either in the form of card or Eagle Bucks.Â
- If you represent a campus organization, you must have confirmed your reservation and arranged payment directly with OA Director Frances Steelquist.
- If you are a member of Montserrat, you may request support for equipment rentals by contacting OA Director Frances Steelquist for approval. All Montserrat-supported rentals require prior reservations.
- Payment must be either in the form of card or Eagle Bucks.Â

Return Process

- Bring all equipment to the OA desk before closing on the last day of your rental period.
- Equipment MUST be returned clean, dry, and in working order. Report any equipment issues or damage at the time of return.
- No further paperwork or payment is required at pick up - easy!
- Please return equipment to the OA desk at least 30 minutes prior to closing. Running late? Contact us as soon as you know you will be late by either emailing outdoor@bc.edu or calling the OA desk at (617) 552-4709.
Policies
- All renters must have a valid form of ID (school or government issued).
- All reservations must be paid in full at the time of the reservation. Credit/debit cards, EagleBucks, and chart strings are the only acceptable forms of payment. Renters may not use cash or check for payments.
The renter agrees to pay any and all charges and/or fees which accrue because of this rental, as detailed below. At the expiration of the rental period, the renter will return the equipment in as good of condition as received by the renter, with ordinary wear and tear expected. Renter agrees to be responsible for lost or damaged equipment. Below are the current fee scales and other consequences for late, damaged, unclean, and lost equipment or gear:
- Lost or Damaged Equipment Fee: Renter will pay the full retail value of any lost, stolen, or misplaced equipment, or equipment that is damaged beyond reasonable repair (i.e., damage rendering loss of function of the item or repairs costing more than the original cost of the item, including shipping fees). Renter is responsible for knowing retail values of equipment prior to rental. Renter will pay the cost of repair fees beyond normal wear and tear.
- Cleaning Fee: If equipment is returned excessively dirty or wet, as determined by desk staff and/or professional staff, renter will be charged a minimum of $10 per item.
- Late Fee:Â If the renter returns the gear after the agreed upon return date, renter will be charged 150% of the daily rental rate for each piece of equipment, except in extraneous circumstances as determined by the Assistant Director, Outdoor Adventures.
