Mary Ann Chirba is the John C. Ford, S.J. Distinguished Scholar and a health law professor at Boston College Law School. Since joining the faculty in 1984, Chirba has taught a variety of courses, including Law Practice I and II, Legal Reasoning Research & Writing, Federal Health Reform: The Affordable Care Act, Comparative Health Law, Health Care Law and Policy I & II, Advocacy Writing, Advanced Legal Writing, and Product Liability Law.
Chirba holds a faculty appointment with Tufts Medical School through a joint JD/MPH program with Ï㽶Ðã Law, and is an adjunct professor at New York University Law School. She has lectured on a various health law issues at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children's Hospital, and Brandeis University. In past years, Chirba was an adjunct faculty member at the Harvard School of Public Health, where she taught courses on pharmaceutical product safety, tobacco regulation, current developments in health law, managed care law and regulation, medical malpractice, and risk management.
As the lead author ofÌýthe two-volume treatiseÌý (LexisNexis), Chirba has written and spoken extensively on the Affordable Care Act. She has been invited to present at the World Stem Cell Summit and other domestic and international conferences on FDA and international regulation of adult stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine. She is an advisory board member of the International Federation of Adipose Therapeutics, Cell Therapy Foundation, and Leadership Education in Neuro-Developmental Disabilities Fellowship Program at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Chirba holds a B.A. in biology from Colgate University and a J.D.,Ìýmagna cum laude, from Boston College. She holds an Sc.D. in health policy and a M.P.H. from Harvard School of Public Health.
