FACHEX is an undergraduate tuition remission option for children of current full-time faculty, administrators, and staff at participating Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

The dependent of a current employee of a Jesuit college or university other than Boston College is considered an "incoming student."

At Boston College, we typically identify over 100 FACHEX eligible applicants annually for a handful of new FACHEX awards, which are offered to the most academically competitive applicants in that year's admissions pool.Ìý

The specific procedures are detailed below. Please keep in mind thatÌýBoston College only considers incoming first-year applicants for new FACHEX awards. Transfer students and upperclassmen are not eligible. They should instead, contact the Boston CollegeÌýOffice of Student ServicesÌýto apply for Financial Aid.

Does Boston College participate in Tuition Exchange?
<p>No. Although the FACHEX program across all AJCU participating institutions utilizes the Tuition Exchange Database for FACHEX certifications, Boston College does not participate in the Tuition Exchange program.&nbsp; We only offer FACHEX.</p>

How do I ensure that my child is eligible for FACHEX consideration?
<p>If your employer is one of the schools participating in FACHEX, you must contact your home institution’s FACHEX coordinator to follow their process to be certified.&nbsp; Once your employer verifies your eligibility, they will certify your child as eligible for FACHEX consideration in the Tuition Exchange Database.&nbsp; You must be certified no later than December 1st.&nbsp; Only your employer can perform this certification.&nbsp; Failure to have your child certified in this database will result in a failure of your child to be considered for FACHEX at any school.&nbsp; There are NO exceptions.&nbsp;</p>

How does my child apply for FACHEX consideration at Boston College?
<p>Students shouldÌýapplyÌýby the Priority Scholarship Deadline of November 1st,Ìýand make sure to list their parent&#39;s employer as a participating Jesuit University in the Parent Employer field on the common application.ÌýÌýFACHEX applicants may choose to have their application reviewed under the Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision considerations, so long as they have all of their admissions materials submitted by the Priority Scholarship Deadline of 11/1.ÌýÌýParents must also contact the FACHEX Coordinator at their Home institution and follow their employer&#39;s procedures to have their child certified in the Tuition Exchange database, as eligible to participate in the FACHEX program. If my child is a FACHEX award recipient, may their award be used to cover summer classes?
<p>No, FACHEX at Boston College only covers four (4) years of continuous full-time undergraduate study during the traditional fall and spring semesters.Ìý You would have to find another source of funding for any summer courses or summer study abroad experiences.</p>

If my child receives a FACHEX award, but needs to take a leave of absence, is it possible for them to receive their FACHEX award upon their return?
<p>It may not be possible because a FACHEX award at Boston College, if offered, only covers four (4) years of continuous full-time undergraduate study during the traditional fall and spring semesters.Ìý If a recipient decides to interrupt their studies at Ï㽶Ðã, they should notify the FACHEX Coordinator at Boston College before the end of the last funded semester.Ìý Reinstatement under FACHEX will depend on the availability of FACHEX openings at the time of reinstatement and it is not guaranteed.</p>

If my child receives a FACHEX award, do I have to reapply each year?
<p>Ordinarily, you will not need to reapply.Ìý At Boston College, if your child receives a FACHEX award here, it will be automatically renewed on an annual basis provided your child continues to attend Boston College full-time and you maintain your employment/FACHEX eligibility at your home institution.Ìý Should a parent terminate their employment and/or subsequently fail to maintain FACHEX eligibility at their home institution, the student’s FACHEX award will be terminated by the receiving institution.Ìý FACHEX eligibility status is checked annually by Boston College using the Tuition Exchange Database, and only your home employing institution can recertify your child as FACHEX eligible since FACHEX is tied to your employee benefit.Ìý Should your child lose FACHEX funding due to lack of maintaining FACHEX eligibility, your family would be encouraged to apply for Financial Aid.Ìý Complete information about applying for Financial Aid at Boston College can be found on our Office of Student Services website.</p>

May my child apply for FACHEX consideration as an upperclassman or transfer student?
<p>No. Boston College only reviews incoming first-year students for FACHEX. A student not offered the benefit as an entering first-year student will not be offered the benefit at Boston College later.</p>

My child is applying to Boston College through Early Decision. If they are admitted, but not awarded FACHEX, may they withdraw?
<p>No, they may not withdraw.Ìý Early Decision I and Early Decision II are both binding commitments to attend Boston College upon admission.Ìý If your child applies through either EDI or EDII and is admitted, they are committed to attend Boston College and the FACHEX award is separate and apart from the admission decision.Ìý We strongly encourage you to familiarize yourself with EDI, EDII, and RD before deciding upon one of those options.Ìý As a condition to full consideration for FACHEX, an applicant must apply for admission by November 1st, but they may apply through EDI, EDII, or RD.</p>

Should my child apply for financial aid?
<p>Yes.&nbsp; FACHEX awards at Boston College are extremely competitive and limited in number.&nbsp; For this reason, it is highly recommended that all FACHEX applicants also apply for Financial Aid since a Financial Aid offer may make it possible to attend Boston College should a FACHEX award not be extended.&nbsp; You can review the Office of Student Services website for more information about how to apply for Financial Aid.</p>

What are my child’s chances of receiving a FACHEX award from Boston College?
<p>The selection process is highly selective.Ìý We receive 100 or more applications each year for a handful of new FACHEX awards.Ìý Since FACHEX is awarded to the most academically competitive student(s) in that year&#39;s application pool, it is highly competitive both in terms of availability and selectivity.Ìý There are also no guarantees to the children of any faculty or staff member that they will be able to utilize the FACHEX benefit at the school of their choice.</p>

What do I do if my child did not list me as employed by a participating Jesuit college or university on their Common Application?
<p>Your child should contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 617-552-3100 prior to admission deadlines.Ìý They are the only office at Boston College that can adjust an applicant&#39;s admission file.</p>

What happens if I did not understand the rules of the program or missed the deadline?

When will my child be notified of their FACHEX decision?
<p>All FACHEX eligible students applying to Ï㽶Ðã will be notified of their FACHEX decision by April 1st.Ìý The initial FACHEX notification will be sent separate from the Admission or Financial Aid decision letters.</p>
