A coalition of Microsoft, KPMG and others have established to increase employability for diverse, local talent in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. The program will provide a pathway from skilling to employment to bridge the digital skills divide. “Like so many regions across the country, the tri-state area is building its economy back in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Kate Johnson, president of Microsoft U.S. “Alongside our civic, learning and corporate partners, we’re hopeful that the Accelerate program can help expand economic opportunity and provide the skills needed to support an inclusive, equitable recovery.”

In connection with June's Men's Health Month, Aflac released findings of its new . The study suggests that men's optimism about their health may not necessarily be realistic, and one of the most common motivators for men to see their doctor—the women in their lives—can often lead to arguments. "Whether it stems from a fear of the doctor, high costs, perceptions around masculinity or a general lack of urgency, men too often avoid preventative care," said Jeramy Tipton, senior vice president of Distribution Expansion and Consumer Markets at Aflac. "The survey results make it clear that more education and discussion around men's health issues is necessary, as well as additional resources such as supplemental insurance to help with the out-of-pocket medical costs that appear to be deterring many men from taking care of themselves."

CITGO Petroleum Corporation and Discovery Education announced the winners of the , which asked students in grades 5-8 to identify a community problem and share a solution aligned to one of the four following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: safety and well-being, quality education, sustainable cities and communities, and life on land. “At CITGO, we are committed to connecting students to educational experiences that fuel lifelong success,” said Kate Robbins, general manager of corporate communications at CITGO. “The Fueling Education initiative and challenge demonstrates the power of connecting students to STEM in a global context. We are thrilled to congratulate the 2021 Fueling Education Challenge winners for their thoughtful problem-solving projects.”

Dow Chemical, in collaboration with LyondellBassell and NOVA Chemicals, announced the establishment of the to invest in scalable recycling technologies, equipment upgrades and infrastructure solutions. The Fund’s investments aim to recycle more than 500 million pounds of plastic over its lifespan. “Dow is investing with Closed Loop Partners as another way to catalyze additional investment in recycling technology and infrastructure in the U.S. & Canada,” said Jim Fitterling, chairman and CEO of Dow.

General Motors Co. announced it to $35 billion, representing a 75 percent increase from its initial commitment announced prior to the pandemic. “We are investing aggressively in a comprehensive and highly-integrated plan to make sure that GM leads in all aspects of the transformation to a more sustainable future,” said GM chair and CEO Mary Barra. "There is a strong and growing conviction among our employees, customers, dealers, suppliers, unions and investors, as well as policymakers, that electric vehicles and self-driving technology are the keys to a cleaner, safer world for all.”

National Grid just became the first major U.S. utility to , a global initiative organized by the Climate Group. “In doing our part to reduce GHG emissions in the areas we serve, transportation is a sector National Grid cannot ignore,” said Badar Khan, US president of National Grid. “It is the fastest-growing contributor to climate change globally. By joining EV100, we are committing to fast track transportation electrification and make a significant contribution by 2030. Over the next decade, we will work with other utilities, charging stations providers, automakers, policymakers, regulators, and our customers to put more EVs and charging stations on our streets.”

Q2 has released its , highlighting the company’s commitment to build strong and diverse communities by strengthening their financial institutions – from assisting employees and customers during the COVID-19 pandemic to the company’s commitment to ethics, compliance and governance; ensuring security and privacy; and promoting diversity and inclusion, along with efforts to protect the environment. “At Q2, we have always operated our business with a clear set of guiding principles that have shaped every aspect of our growth,” said Matt Flake, chief executive officer at Q2. “We are confident our initiatives related to environmental, social and governance issues will act as additional fuel for growth and positive change. These initiatives will open our minds, unlock our creativity and enable our diverse talent to care for and positively impact our customers, partners and communities in ways we have yet to imagine.”

Verizon has with Encircle, a nonprofit that builds safe spaces by creating homes across the country for LGBTQ+ youth, young adults, and families to help find support and belonging, with the goal to promote digital inclusion across the LGBTQ+ community. “We believe in the power of technology to transform people's lives and help to build a more inclusive society,” said Rose Stuckey Kirk, chief corporate social responsibility officer, Verizon. “We're excited to partner with Encircle to give LGBTQ+ youth and their families a safe place to receive resources that will help advance their skills and promote our shared goal of equitable economic opportunity.”

UPS has announced its strategic priorities, three-year financial targets and new at its latest investor and analyst conference. The company highlighted its priorities for its Customer First, People Led, Innovation Driven strategy. “We are creating a new UPS, rooted in the values of the company," said Carol Tomé, UPS chief executive officer. "Our strategic priorities are evolving to reflect the changing needs of our customers and our business, and what matters most to our stakeholders.”
