Jonathan Laurence's research interests are transatlantic relations, Islam in Europe, North Africa and Turkey. He is the author of two critically acclaimed books;ÌýThe Emancipation of Europe’s Muslims: The State’s Role in Minority IntegrationÌý(Princeton University Press 2012) andÌýIntegrating Islam: Political and Religious Challenges in Contemporary FranceÌý(Brookings Institution Press, 2006).ÌýProf. Laurence’s research and insight have been featured inÌýThe New York Times, The Washington Post, The EconomistÌýand onÌýNational Public RadioÌýandÌý°ä±·±·. His articles have been published byÌýEuropean Political Science, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, International Crisis Group, Le Monde, Perspectives on Politics, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Der TagesspiegelÌýand other US and international periodicals and think tanks. He is completing a new book comparing how Roman Catholic and Sunni Muslim religious institutions have coped with the loss of political power, to be published next year with Princeton University Press. He has been a Berlin prize fellow at the American Academy in Berlin, a visiting professor at LUISS Guido Carli in Rome, senior fellow at the Transatlantic Academy, a Council on the U.S. and Italy visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution, a guest researcher at New York University, Sciences Po-Paris and Wissenchaftszentrum Berlin, and a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.Ìý
