Michael D. Grubb is an Associate Professor of Economics at Boston College whose recent research has focused on bill shock regulation and consumer inattention, which was cited by the Wall Street Journal. He is the author of, "Consumer Inattention and Bill-Shock Regulation" (Review of Economic Studies, 2015), “Overconfident Consumers in the Marketplace" (Journal of Economic Perspectives, 2015), and co-author of, "Cellular Service Demand: Biased Beliefs, Learning, and Bill Shock" (American Economic Review, 2015). Professor Grubb has been a consulting researcher at Microsoft Research and is presently on the advisory board of the Rubicon Project, an innovative technology company automating the buying and selling of advertising with one of the largest real-time cloud and Big Data computing systems. Along with also having research interests in applied microeconomic theory, industrial organization, behavioral economics, display ad auctions, and market design, Grubb is an associate editor of the Journal of Industrial Economics. Before arriving at Boston College, Grubb was an Assistant Professor of Applied Economics at MIT Sloan School of Management from 2007 to 2013 and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University from 2009-2010. Grubb is also an affiliate with , a nonprofit behavioral economics consulting firm.
